Custard Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 1/4 cups low fat milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. In saucepan combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.
  2. Stir in milk.
  3. Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Stir hot milk mixture a little at a time into beaten egg yolks.
  5. Return egg yolk mixture to saucepan.
  6. Cook 1 minute over low heat, stirring constantly.
  7. Do not boil.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  9. Serve warm or cold over Elegant Prune Whip.
