Caramel Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups flour or more (see Gramma's notes)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Combine butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla to combine.
  3. Stir in dry ingredients and adjust flour amount until dough-like. Gramma's notes read "from 1 1/4 cup to 1 1/2 cup more"
  4. Roll into a cylinder and chill in plastic wrap or wax paper, at least an hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  6. Slice thin and bake 6 to 8 minutes.
